What Newhoo collects
Updated October 17, 2026
No accounts, no ads, and no cookies of its own. Your links and settings stay in your browser unless you enable private sync. Optional email updates are managed by Kit. Newhoo counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not identify you.
Visit statistics
Newhoo uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and how quickly pages load. A small Cloudflare script reports the page you viewed, the site that linked you here, your country, browser, operating system, and device type, and page-speed measurements.
It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not fingerprint you from your IP address or browser details. It does not follow you to other sites. Statistics from visitors in the European Union are discarded by Cloudflare and not kept. If a content blocker stops the script, the site works exactly the same.
Hosting
Newhoo is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare handles each request and may keep short-lived technical logs, such as your IP address and the page requested, to run and protect the service. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
What stays in your browser
Your personal links, directory changes, section order, light or dark mode, Full or Simple mode, search engines, weather location, and clock time zone are saved in your browser’s storage on this device. They are not sent to Newhoo unless you turn on private sync. Clearing this site’s data in your browser resets them.
Backup and private sync
A backup file is created on your device and goes wherever you save it. Private sync is optional. Your browser encrypts your preferences before uploading them, and Cloudflare stores only that encrypted copy, which Newhoo cannot read. Your private code is the key: anyone who has it can open and change the copy. Deleting private sync removes the stored copy.
Weather
Each time the page loads, your browser asks Open-Meteo for the forecast at your chosen place, using coordinates rounded to about a kilometer. Typing a city or ZIP code sends that search to Open-Meteo. Use my location asks your browser’s permission first, then sends the rounded coordinates to BigDataCloud to look up the place name.
DailyGood
The daily quote and stories are fetched by Newhoo’s server, not your browser, so DailyGood does not see your visit unless you open one of their stories.
Searches and links
Searches go straight from your browser to the engine you pick, in a new tab. Newhoo does not see or keep them. Linked sites, search engines, and Sam’s other sites have their own privacy policies. Links to Sam’s other sites carry only your light or dark choice.
Email updates
Email updates are optional. The signup form is provided by Kit and loads when you approach it on the page. If you subscribe, Kit stores your email address, signup source, confirmation status, and technical information used to operate the service, such as your IP address. Kit may use cookies for its forms and record email opens and link clicks. All three sites share one email list for occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
This is one mailing list for occasional updates from Sam LeHardy about apps, games, writing, and projects across sammys.ai, samlehardy.com, and Newhoo! Confirm your address using the email Kit sends you. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email, or contact Sam to ask for your subscriber information to be removed. See Kit’s privacy policy.
